We hoped our beach theme would be unique, but there were plenty of competitors at this year’s Kennedy Krieger Festival of Trees. However, our 7-foot tree gained a lot of praise for its understated elegance. We used blue lights, which softtened the overal effect. The base was a sandy-colored tree skirt with two eleves perched on popsickle stick beach chairs. (At the end of the event, one elf was missing.) The branches sported glass balls with sand and shells inside, blue and green sea glass balls, sand-covered sea shapes, light houses, sand dollars, starfish and much more.
One tree designed paused at our tree as we were decorating and said, “I’ll be back Friday to buy this one. It will look great at our beach house.” I don’t know if she bought the tree, but it was sold by Friday afternoon!
